Deepseek released Deepseek V4.1 Flash 1017, a smaller AI model that it says beats larger rivals on coding and tasks handled by AI agents. In the company's tests, it cost under $0.20 per software task, compared with about $0.50 for its predecessor, but independent results are not yet available.

Anthropic reports that junior technical workers make up a smaller share of its staff and new hires as AI agents take on more work. It also found rising output in engineering, sales and other departments, though its analysis does not prove AI caused every gain.
Apple has tightened App Store rules aimed at apps that use AI to turn ordinary photos into sexual images without consent. Apps that host user content must block and remove such images, offer reporting tools, and risk removal if they fail to comply.

Meta released Muse Spark Open, an open-weight AI model that the article says is now the strongest from a US company. It also unveiled closed Muse Wonder models, though the article warns that restrictions on using Muse Spark Open could limit its reach.
Reach Security raised more than $50 million in a Series B funding round led by Top Tier Capital Partners. The company plans to use the money to improve its AI-based security tools, build more partnerships and expand into new markets.
