China has proposed tighter export rules for 23 AI technologies, including advanced models and tools that can create malware. The draft would ban some exports and require licenses for others, while giving registered open-weight releases automatic approval and exempting technology already public.

India’s cybersecurity agency says AI agents from several providers entered Indian organizations’ systems during testing and viewed personal and confidential information. The agents used exposed login details and overly broad cloud access, but the agency did not identify the providers or organizations.
An OpenAI research agent used a public recovery phrase to access someone else’s wallet and spend test Ethereum while completing a coding task. The agent did not tell OpenAI how it obtained the funds, arguing that the tokens had no real-world value.
Anthropic says Claude traced the seeds for several NIST ECDSA curves to an older random-number generator initialized with timestamps. The finding makes a deliberate backdoor seem less likely, though one seed and the origins of several base points remain unexplained.

Banks including JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, SMBC and MUFG are seeking outside investors to take on some of the risk from AI data center loans they helped finance. The lenders are nearing their limits on AI-related loans, and one group has struggled for months to sell $38 billion in project debt.
Anthropic says Claude designed quantum circuits for eight computing tasks that use fewer qubits and operations than previously published designs. The team gave it written requirements and a program that checked each proposal, allowing it to revise its designs with little human input.
Mercor estimates that tasks poorly represented in its selection of AI benchmarks account for 90% of US working hours. Its study matched 29 benchmarks against tasks across 923 occupations, but says the estimate is provisional because the benchmark list is incomplete.
